This fact places great importance and responsibility on the position of the Medical Assistant. They are working much closer to patients than any other medical workers. It is the responsibility of the Medical Assistant to report any unusual or unexpected changes that they may occur during the every day care that they provide to patients. Medical Assistant Careers create people that others know as the eyes and ears for their hospital or nursing home supervisors. Registered Nurses and Medical Assistants become a very strong team due to the great trust in Medical Assistants.

One of the every day tasks that is asked of Medical Assistants is to do and check vital signs. In most cases these are done many times throughout the day according to what the doctors’ orders are. All of these vital signs are taught in the Medical Assistant School that are required for this type of certification. Medical Assistant Careers must be taken very seriously because the accuracy of these vital signs is paramount. A rising temperature or fever could indicate infection, an increasing blood pressure may indicate that medical intervention or just a diet change is needed, and a decrease in the patient’s blood pressure could indicate blooding or hemorrhage. Because the Medical assistant is the one doing this kind of work he/she would notice all these changes first and must be able to communicate all this information to her supervisors in a fast and clear way.

Medical Assistant jobs outside of a formal institution usually allow for more independence for the worker but then also take on much more responsibility. This is one of the main reasons why some home care facilities require an additional test for their Medical Assistants to pass. The person that strives for a Medical Assistant Career will also be expected and strongly required to take CPR when needed and also know when and how to call a “code blue”. So if you want and decided to make a difference in the lives of many people then become a Medical Assistant. As you probably can see this is a very trust worthy kind of a job and fulfilling position.
